The Rhythmic Program will conduct a Pre-Squad training camp July 7-13 at the Lake Placid Olympic Training Center for gymnasts born in the years ’97, ’98,’99. The purpose of this camp is to introduce younger athletes to elite training environments while respecting their delicate age. Top world clinicians will work on body technique, ballet, dance instruction and conditioning—the fundamentals of Elite level preparation. Leisure swimming will also be included.
It will be an incredible opportunity for team-building and development of life-long skills and friendships.
Invitations to the July Pre-Squad Camp will be sent in two rounds (regardless of level): some on June 1st and the rest on June 24th. If you are interested in sending a dvd of your athlete born in ’97, ’98, or ’99 to the YES Coordinator, Lana Lashoff, the deadline is May 22nd. Please contact her at email@example.com to arrange this. Otherwise, she will be present at both the JO Compulsory and Optional Championships for observation. *Camp selection is never based on competitive results.
Any US coach or former rhythmic gymnasts interested in attending the camp as professional development—to observe, video, etc—are welcome to do so. The arrival airport is Albany, NY and details will be posted soon about payment and accommodation.
The next official YES Camp will be in October 2009 and participants in the July camp may be invited.
**The Youth Elite Squad highly encourages gymnasts to participate in the Future Stars Program. Over 80% Youth Elite Squad members come from the Future Stars Program.
Coaches Workshop: The Rhythmic Program at USA Gymnastics invites interested coaches and their athletes to attend the July 2009 Pre-Youth Elite Squad camp to observe, listen, and learn from international guest instructors: 2008 Olympic coach and Brevet judge Elena Nefedova and two of her gymnasts (who will compete in the Chicago Cup!) and expert rhythmic ballet instructor Tatiana Pomersanseva.
