Two-time NCAA all-around champion Mikulak won the U.S. men's all-around title last month by nearly three points at the P&G Championships in Hartford, Conn. He edged out Alexander Naddour of Gilbert, Ariz./Team Hilton HHonors (USA Youth Fitness), who finished second with 178.500 points, and Olympic teammate Jake Dalton of Reno, Nev./Team Hilton HHonors (University of Oklahoma), was third, scoring 177.650. Mikulak also picked up individual event titles on the parallel bars and horizontal bar. He is now the reigning Big Ten, NCAA and U.S. all-around champion, the only three all-around meets he has entered this year. Following the meet, Mikulak was also named to the U.S. Team for the World Championships.
To win the senior women's all-around title in Hartford, Biles posted an all-around total of 120.450 points, followed closely by 2012 Olympic gold-medalist Kyla Ross of Aliso Viejo, Calif./Gym-Max, at 120.250 points, and Brenna Dowell of Odessa, Mo./Great American Gymnastics Express, with 116.550 points. Biles, who is a first-year senior competitor, also picked up silver medals on all four apparatus. Following the competition, she was invited to the World Selection Camp later this month, which will determine the U.S. Team for the World Championships.
