USA Gymnastics is dedicating the 2013 AT&T American Cup on March 2 at the DCU Center in Worcester to the late Jason Simpson, who was the assistant vice president of events and sponsorships for AT&T and a long-time supporter of USA Gymnastics. Simpson was an integral part of AT&T's becoming a corporate partner of USA Gymnastics eight years ago. USA Gymnastics and the U.S. Olympic community lost a colleague, a friend, fan and an advocate with his passing. His passion and dedication led AT&T to its ongoing involvement with the U.S. Olympic movement through its sponsorship of USA Gymnastics, the U.S. Olympic Committee, USA Diving, U.S. Figure Skating and USA Swimming.

"Jason has left an indelible mark on USA Gymnastics and the U.S. Olympic movement," said Steve Penny, president of USA Gymnastics. "His efforts at AT&T have helped many of the country's top gymnasts and athletes pursue their dreams, as well as tell their stories through innovative initiatives like USA Gymnastics' 'Behind the Team, presented by AT&T.' We are dedicating this year's AT&T American Cup to Jason, who we miss and will remember as a friend."

Based in Dallas, Simpson joined AT&T in 2006 as director of Olympic Integration. As assistant vice president of events and sponsorship, he also worked with organizations outside of the Olympic movement, including NASCAR, Formula One, the Masters, U.S. Open, Major League Baseball, National Basketball Association, and National Football League many others. He attended a number of Olympic Games, including 2012 in London.

Simpson graduated with honors from the University of California at Berkeley in 1993, with a major in mass communications, and he earned a master's degree in business administration at the University of Southern California.

He was 41 when he died. He is survived by his wife, parents and extended family.
