The Women's International Zionist Organization will honor 2012 Olympic Team captain Aly Raisman at an Oct. 17 dinner in Aventura, Fla., because she proudly proclaimed her Jewish heritage at the London Olympics, the group said. She also brought attention to the 40th anniversary of the massacre of 11 members of the Israeli Olympic team at the 1972 Munich Games.
Raisman helped the Fierce Fiveā to the team gold medal, which was the first team gold since 1996. Raisman also became the most decorated gymnast at the 2012 Olympics after earning floor exercise gold and balance beam bronze.
