Wieber wins USOC Female Athlete of the Month for June

INDIANAPOLIS, June 18, 2012 – Jordyn Wieber of DeWitt, Mich./Gedderts' Twistars USA, earned the U.S. Olympic Committee's June Female Athlete of the Month honor for her standout performances at Visa Championships and the U.S. Olympic Trials-Gymnastics last month. This is her second USOC Female Athlete of the Month Award (October 2011).

Wieber captured her second consecutive national title at the 2012 Visa Championships, which ran from June 8-10 in St. Louis. There, Wieber earned a final score of 121.900 during the two-day competition. Later that month, she was also named to the U.S. Olympic Team after placing second at the U.S. Olympic Trials for Gymnastics in San Jose, Calif. Her two-day Trials score was 123.350, just 0.100 point off the lead.

Male Athlete of the Month honors were earned by track & field's Ashton Eaton, while the U.S. Women's National Volleyball Team was named Team of the Month for June.
