Faces In The Gym - Oct. 2008

Empire Gymnastics Level 4 men's team The Empire Gymnastics Level 4 men's team won big at the 2008 Texas North State Championships with a score of 173.45. In the 8-9-year-old age group Colton Eager (58.3), Caleb Rea (57.85) and Nick Romanelli (57.3) swept the all-around and took top honors on every event. Colton won floor (9.9), rings (9.85) and high bar (9.95). Caleb won pommel horse (9.85) and Nick won vault (9.7) and p-bars (9.85). In the 7-year-old competition Rohan Ahuja won the all around (57.4), floor (9.6) and pommel horse (9.9). At the 2008 Region 3 Future Stars testing Colton took first place and Caleb took seventh. They are coached by Kyle Turner at Empire Gymnastics Academy in Euless, Texas.

Kelly Triplets Alexis Kelly, Forrest Kelly and Orion Kelly, the "Kelly Triplets," all participated in New Jersey Level 4 States for ACE Gymnastics this past year. Although this was their first year of competition, Forrest placed 4th (47.4) and Orion placed 5th (47.3) in All-Around out of 78 boys. Not only had Forrest and Orion never competed before but they only started training with the USAG team last September. Their sister, Alexis, placed 7th on bars at her Level 4 States. The Kelly Triplets truned 8 years old in July. Ace Gymnastics is in Ocean, NJ.

Hannah GraunkeHannah Graunke is 13 years old and trains at America's Best Kids (ABK). Hannah's took first place on Uneven Bars, Balance Beam, and in the All-Around at the Southern Oregon Sectionals in 2007. She went on to win first place on Uneven Bars and first place All-Around at the 2007 Oregon State Championships. In 2008 Hannah was Sectionals Champion on Uneven bars, Balance Beam, Floor, and All-Around. Hannah is very excited to compete as a Level 7. She also enjoys spending time shopping, hanging out with friends and reading. Hannah is coached by Sheri Berryessa, Amy Inge, and Chris Blache.

Holly and Tracy HansonHolly (11) and Tracy (9) Hanson of Eagle River, Alaska competed in the Anchorage Gymanstics Association Halloween Spook Meet on October 25th, 2008. Holly placed 1st in all-around and on bars for Level 6 ages 12-13; 2nd on beam and floor, and 3rd on vault. It was Tracy's first meet and she finished with a 35.95 AA Level 4. The Hanson sisters train at Anchorage Gymnastics Association in Anchorage, Alaska.

Gabrielle De LeonGabrielle De Leon, 9, is a Level 5 gymnast and trains at Airborne Gymnastics in Santa Clara, CA. At the 2008 Hollywood Invitational (hosted by North Bay Athletic Association), Gabrielle placed first on beam with a score of 9.950. Gabrielle is coached by Melanie Ruggiero, Stephanie McCarthy and John Yip.
