Faces In The Gym - Dec. 2008
 Elena (age 10) and Katalina (age 7) Ramirez earned 1st and 2nd all-around titles at the California Level 4 state championships. Elena placed 1st on beam (9.6), 1st on vault (9.425), 2nd on bars (9.275) and second in the all-around (37.350). She just started gymnastics in April. Little sister Katalina placed 1st on bars (9.525), 1st on vault (9.2), 3rd on beam (9.425), 9th on floor (9.2) and 1st in the all-around with a matching 37.350 score. They are coached by Bernie Weston of Pacific Coast Gymnastics in San Marcos. |
 Gabrielle De Leon (9) successfully completed her 2008 Level 5 season by winning the All-Around state title at the 2008 Level 5 Northern California (NorCal) State Championships. Gabrielle is ranked number one in the Junior A division, with an All-Around score of 37.675. She also took first place on Beam (9.70) and Floor (9.725), and took 4th on Vault and 5th on Bars. Gabrielle also set a record this season by being the first gymnast competing in the NorCal State division to have ever scored a 9.950 (1st place on Beam at the 2008 Hollywood Invitational). Her score of 9.950 is the highest score ever recorded in Northern California history. Gabrielle trains at Airborne Gymnastics in Santa Clara, CA and is coached by Melanie Ruggiero, Stephanie McCarthy and John Yip. |
