Seventeen-year-old Rebecca Bross had a spectacular gymnastics year in 2010. She won the all-around bronze medal at the 2010 World Championships, helped her team win the silver medal, tied for the silver medal on balance beam and grabbed the bronze medal on bars. Bross was named one of 10 finalists for the 2010 Woman's Sports Foundation Sportswoman of the Year. In addition, she won the all-around, bars and beam titles at the Visa Championships, won the all-around, balance beam, floor exercise and team titles at the Pacific Rim Gymnastics Championships, and won the all-around title at the 2010 Tyson American Cup.
Bross also took second in the all-around at the 2009 World Championships and tied for a bronze medal on bars, making her one of the best gymnasts in the world. Known for her competitive focus, Bross proved just how focused she is at this year's World Championships. Despite a sore leg, she continued to compete and earn medals. Bross, who is originally from Ann Arbor, Mich., now calls Plano, Texas, her home where she trains with Valeri Liukin at World Olympic Gymnastics Academy. She is the 2007 Junior National Champion and winner of three medals at the 2007 Pan American Games, including the team and floor exercise gold and all-around silver medals.
We caught up with Rebecca to talk about her experiences at the World Championships and her future plans.
