Career Highlights

Artemev was an alternate on the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team for men's gymnastics, but was named to the team just two days before competition began because of an injury to Morgan Hamm. Artemev and his teammates went on to win the team bronze medal, and he qualified for the all-around and pommel horse finals. In 2006, Artemev placed third on the pommel horse at the World Championships and became the first U.S. male gymnast to win a world pommel horse medal since 1979. He was a member of both the 2006-07 World Championships teams and helped the USA to a fourth place finish in 2007. He tore elbow ligaments in Aug. 2002 and resumed training in Feb. 2003. He injured his shoulder in July 2005 and did not return to competition until Feb. 2006.
